50. The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
Whereas Live and Let Die was merely an okay Bond movie, with bad signs pointing in the wrong direction for the franchise and a good performance by the awesome Christopher Lee aside, The Man with the Golden Gun was terrible, leading me to really worry about having to watch the Roger Moore Bond movies, I really, really enjoyed The Spy Who Loved Me. Maybe it was lowered expectations, but I enjoyed pretty much everything about the movie. For the first time, I enjoyed Roger Moore in the role, Barbara Bach was the best Bond girl since Diana Rigg (really liked the mention of Tracy in this film). The action scenes were enjoyable and fun to watch, the opening ski scene was a lot of fun and the huge battle on the carrier was very impressive, if only from a logistics viewpoint. Of course, Jaws Is an awesome villain. Anyway, right now for my rematch through the series, it’s a top 5 Bond movie, so far at least! My current ranking of the series!
